All our
children's services operate on the belief that children have the right
to be safe and to be protected. Children also have the right to be respected,
happy and secure. If the childrens needs are met then the families
needs and rights will be achieved.

George Ardill, a
prominent Sydney Christian, businessman and philanthropist founded the organisation (then
known as the Sydney Rescue Work Society) in 1882 after he discovered an impoverished
family living in squalor in a well-known suburban cemetery.

Today, Communicare
Sydney supports some eighteen programs in five locations and our 180 staff and 230 carers
look after over 1500 children.
With an annual budget of over $5 million, Communicare co-operates with local, state and
federal governments, yet retains its Christian foundation and independence.
