A loving God, the Father Almighty, made the Universe. He also made mankind to enjoy a meaningful relationship with Him and with each other. Under God’s authority and according to His principles we were to rule the earth in peace and harmony.

Mankind rejected God’s loving care and authority and continues to do so by ignoring God’s principles for living. Like the Prodigal Son of Jesus’ parable, we all prefer to do things our own way. The result of our rejection and rebellious attitude is separation from God which leads to disharmony in all our relationships. Our headstrong behaviour, sin, has consequences e.g. selfishness, fear, falsehood, hate, injustice and abuse of others. Separated from our Heavenly Father, refusing His advice and authority, we are lost. We cannot rule our world in justice and peace, nor can we manage our own lives. Sin brings death both physically and spiritually.

But there is Good News. God is still in control even when it appears that evil has triumphed. He still loves us and wants us to be part of His family. Like any child who acts unfairly against his/her parents, our rebellion has hurt God and attacked His honour and character. But God has responded with a plan that upholds His honour, shows love to the undeserving and will finally put an end to all rebellion.

God’s faithful son, Jesus Christ, entered history and through His suffering and death took the punishment that was rightfully ours. The penalty was paid in full and we can now have peace with God - a gift from our Lord Jesus Christ.. All who recognise their rebellion, seek forgiveness and put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, will be forgiven and welcomed into God’s family.

Jesus Christ is, as He said, the Way, the Truth and the Life. When death could not hold Him and He rose again He demonstrated His power over sin, its consequences and Satan’s power. Because He lives - we have a new way of living and a hope which will never fade. Because He lives - we know His word is the truth on which we can base our values and behaviour. Because he lives - we can have life as life was meant to be - eternal and in harmony and peace with our Heavenly Father.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is now in Heaven with His Father awaiting God’s time for His return in power to rule and judge all mankind.

Christians have a special responsibility to tell others of Christ’s death, resurrection and His second coming. For this task we have a special helper, the Holy Spirit, who is promised to all who sincerely desire to live under the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. He lives within us and by His power day by day we can live lives which demonstrate to a lost world by word and deed that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ brings peace with God and life everlasting. He helps us understand God’s Word, teaches us to pray, strengthens us in our daily life and equips us to share the Good News of peace with God through the wonderful work of Our Lord and Saviour.
